Use the Loadin Maps module as a widget

In Orchard, you manage widgets by clicking Widgets in the dashboard. The Widgets screen lists the available widgets and lets you assign the widget to a layer and a zone.

The following image shows the Widgets screen.

We are going to install the Loadin Maps module widget inside our Content and make it available for all layers.

Click Add Button at the Content zone.

Next screen shows the available widgets for your orchard web site. If you have already installed Loadin Maps module, you can see the Bing Maps Widget available for selection.

Click on Bing Maps Widget to continue.

Below the WidgetPart default settings (zone, layer, position and title) you can edit the Loadin Bing Maps Settings.

  • Latitude is a required field used to define a point on the Earth where the map is centered.
Example 47.610
  • Longitude is a required field used to define a point on the Earth where the map is centered.
Example -122.107
  • Width is an optional field (Use 0 value to draw map to default size). To define a valid mapsize, you have to fill width and height values with positive values.
Example: 600
  • Height is an optional field (Use 0 value to draw map to default size). To define a valid mapsize, you have to fill width and height values with positive values.
Example: 450
For interactive maps, width and height are required fields
  • Zoom is a required field and defines the level of zoom to display. An integer between 1 and 21. Some imagery may not be available at all zoom levels for all locations.
Example 10.
  • Mode is a required field for static maps and defines the type of imagery. Interactive maps are set to automatic by default.
Use one of the following values:
  • Aerial - Aerial imagery.
  • AerialWithLabels – Aerial imagery with a road overlay.
  • Road – Roads without additional imagery.
  • OrdnanceSurvey - Ordnance Survey imagery.
  • CollinsBart – Collins Bart imagery.
  • PinIcon is an optional field for static maps. Specify an icon style for the PushPin of the location (values range from 0 to 36). visit http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff701719.aspx to see available icons for pushpins. Field seems to accept higher values since Microsoft is changing the rest service to accept a wider range.
Example 1.
For Interactive maps enter the integer value 1 for PinIcon
  • PinText Specify an icon text for the PushPin of the location (maximum 3 characters).

If you already have your Bing Maps Developer key defined in BingMaps settings, you can see it as the last non-editable field of the Widget settings.

Press Save to continue.

Now you can see your map on you main page of your orchard web site.
